Moments in Time

Ali got a note in the mail the other day from her teacher. Ms. Dunn wrote that she is excited to have Ali in her class this year and thanked her for being a role model of behavior the first few days of school. At first, Dean and I were thrilled. Then we wondered if there was a SECOND Alison Thompson in her class. ;-)

Ali brought home her first Friday Folder today. She got all Excellents, except one Satisfactory for homework neatness. (Her teacher wrote they would be working on handwriting next week.) Something Ms. Dunn does that I think is really awesome... on their Friday folder sheet, the kids have to write how they think they did before Ms. Dunn completes the sheet. Alison wrote that "The note incouraged me to be on my best behavyiour". I think Ms. Dunn is one smart cookie who knows that a little honey catches way more flies than vinegar...

Well, vacation is over and we are all back at school and work. The summer weather is definitely still here, though. It was only in the 80's today but we'll see the 90's again by tomorrow for at least a few more days.

I really like my new job. My coworkers are all very nice. The job is a good fit for me - a chance to use my secretarial, library and computer troubleshooting skills. The girls seem happy in school. Alison *loves* her new teacher, which I hope remains the case. Making Miss Dunn happy/proud is a great incentive for Alison. Jess likes her teachers and classes, for the most part. She doesn't like her English class because it is almost all boys. HA! How soon that will change!
